Sandusky - a bust
Well, my trip to the Northern Open was a real bust. I had a great pre-fish with Garrett Green and Dave Rochette from Ontario. Man, these guys are GREAT fisherman and even better companions. Great stories, great fishing! All in all, a great trip! Unfortunately my Day 1 Boater had a breakdown which resulted in me not fishing in the Tournament. My Day 1 Boater seemed like a great guy. I spent the day with him trying to get his motor working. However, after 5 hours of work it was just not going to happen. After all of this my Pr0/Angler partner decided to drop out of the event. BASS staff felt bad for my situation. They offered me a refund and my entry paid into a 2010 Open Tournament. I think this is the route I will go. This was unfortunate but there was a silver lining in all of this. I get to try again next year. Let's hope for another Lake Erie event in 2010.

Time for B.A.S.S. Northern #2
Well, I am nearly ready for another trip down south. This time I am headed to Sandusky, Ohio to try my luck at the BASS Northern Open on Lake Erie. I love fishing for smallmouth on Lake Erie so this event should be more to my liking. Let's hope the weather holds and the winds stay reasonable (calm winds on Erie is asking for too much!). What will be the winning pattern? That remains to be seen. Water temps are still near the 20C mark for Western Lake Erie. Bass will be shallow and deep. Pre-fishing will involve lots of exploring the many islands/reefs of Ohio and Ontario waters of Lake Erie. Wish me luck!
