Bassmasters Classic and Canadian Television - nothing to see here!

Wow, another year and not chance to watch the Bassmasters Classic on TV. For us Canadians it seems just easier to load up the family and head south to watch this annual event! There is so many opinions on this but it seems to come down to the almighty dollar. There is not enough support in Canada to make airing this show worthwhile to Canadian TV stations. This is a sad state of affairs.

As a paying member of the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society it really upsets me that we don't have the kind of access as our American counterparts. Television coverage is even an old argument. Why not just have live streaming from a website to view the event. This does not even exist. For us north of the border we are left reading the results through various bloggers who are attending the prestigious event.

Sure, I will continue to be a member of BASS because of the camaraderie among friends here in Ontario. However, it is bad enough we can't fish for bass for 6 months, we can't even watch the bass fishing we want to!

Oh well, now I sit for another blogger or webmaster to tell me who won the Bassmasters Classic and by how much..not much nail bitting this year..again.

Bass Magnet Lures - Spring Fishing and Boat Show

After the great evening at the Conservation Dinner I was happy to return to the Spring Fishing Show in Toronto. I was very happy to spend the day helping out at the Bass Magnet Lures booth.

Wow, the Bass Magnet Lures line-up is getting better every year. Swim baits were definitely popular bait this year at the show. Bass Magnet Lures carries two lines of Swim Baits, 3.5" and 5". The two colours I really like are the Natural Perch and Spot Tail Shiner. See images below.
Some other baits that caught my eye was the Flappin' Craws, 3.5" and 4.5". Anyone who has fished with me will tell you I am a flipping tube junky! I love the BML Flipping tubes and fish with these regularly. However, the Flappin' Craws will get more use this year. That is a promise. Especially the colours, Cinnamon Blue and Green Pumpkin Pepper.
My other favourite in the BML line up is there Hook Up Jigs. These flipping jigs are excellent jigs that incorporate two jig styles into one. A cone shaped head allows for penetrating thick cabbage while the flat bottom of the head allows for dragging like a football jig. An excellent 1-2 punch in a jig design! My two favourite colours are the Milfoil Creeper and old faithful, Black/Blue.

Bass Magnet Lures sure produces some of the best bass lure lines in the world and best of all...Canadian made! As winter winds down I can't wait to get back out onto the water and try out some new tackle! BML lures will definitely be tied on ready to go!

Spring Fishing and Boat Show 2010

It has been a long time since I have added a posted to my blog. The fall and winter was busy at work. Not to complain, working as a Biologist is rewarding. However, when the weather is nice there is not time for fishing.

No better way to make my post for the new year than after the Spring Fishing and Boat Show. What a great event! I arrived Thursday to help Mike and Mary Nabulsi set up the Bass Magnet Lures booth. Mike and Mary's company has grown fast in the last few years. They have so many great products that are a staple in my tackle arsenal! A few other pro-staff helped set up as well, Rory and Pepe. It was great to catch up with old friends.

After setting helping to set up the Bass Magnet Lures booth I had to do a quick change and attend the CSFL Conservation Dinner. This was the inaugural event for this gala dinner. What a great evening! Silent auctions, live auctions and a terrific feast! I had the pleasure of sitting at the Ontario Bass Federation Nation table. Many of the OBFN's finest proponents of conservation were at the table for dinner. Great company, great food and a great event! A heart felt 'well done' goes out to Andy and Vita for putting on such a great event. Another 'thank you' is extended to all of the sponsors who helped to make this event a success. I can't wait for another Conservation Dinner in 2011!
