A day on Lady Erie
Hooked up with fellow bass chaser, Brent Moore, to fish Lake Erie today. Winds this week have been wild. Monday and Tuesday saw 40knot+ winds with 2m to 3m waves. When we arrived in Port Colborne at 830am the winds were still blowing West at 15 knots. We decided to venture just east of Port Colborne and fish a long tapering point from 14ft to 30ft of water. We opted for tubes and drop shots. A mixture of Gulp Baits and Quiver Sticks (Bass Magnet Lures) were used. GULP Gobies produced well in the dirty water (<2ft visibility). We managed to land 12 bass today between 2lbs and 3.5lbs. Most were caught between 16ft and 17ft of water. We were off the water by 230pm. Hopefully we can get out on Erie again soon. Water temps were 18C (67F). If temps continue to drop fishing will only improve.
